ISHU students and faculty members
celebrated the UNESCO's 1st International Day
for the Conservation of Mangrove Ecosystem.
On this occasion the following activities were
organized at ISHU, University of Karachi on
Tuesday July 26, 2016
Invited online lecture by Dr. Ahmed Aldrie Amir,
Senior Researcher, Institute for Environment
and Development (LESTARI),University of Kebangsaan
Malaysiaon "An Introduction to the Tropical
Mangrove Ecosystems". Dr. Amir highlighted
the ecological, social and economic importance
of mangal ecosystems for the benefit of mankind.
Message by Ms. Irina Bokova, Director General,
UNESCO was formally read out to the audience
following the lecture which emphasized UNESCO's
commitment to support sustainable conservation
of mangroves through various platforms all over
the globe.
